Frog Follies

It was the 34th annual Frog Follies weekend in Evansville, and hundreds of street rods began pouring into the Vanderburgh County 4H fairground. These hot rod shows are an annual event at the Vanderburgh 4H fairground, but as what I can see yesterday, it was the largest ever! I was shocked to see a huge crowd and there seems to be more new participants this time. I heard that these Frog Follies go to hot rod shows all over America to show their fancy rides and I've also seen a few of those fancy cars are for sale, since some of those pioneers are retiring. Bob Bell, a spokesman for the Evansville Iron Street Rod Club which has been staging Frog Follies since the mid-1970s, said organizers were worried at first that high gas prices might cut into attendance. Those fears changed when they noticed that about 300 of some 2,500 preregistered car owners indicated they had never been to the show before. At last count Friday evening, about 3,500 cars were signed up for the show!

Apart from showing off their fancy cars, there were also flea market stalls with people selling T-shirts, trinkets, handbags, shoes, quilts, decorative items of FROGS in all kinds of sizes and shapes. We didn't managed to see all the fancy cars, because my son was already moaning and groaning about the heat and his tired feet. The weather was really really humid, probably the hottest day of the year, and I was not really bothered by the heat because of my excitement in seeing all those pretty cars. They come in so many colors, (some are Pink, Shocking Green, Purple, Orange, or a mixture of rainbow color) and some are extremely old and needed to be towed to be in the car show.
