When my son turned 2, I got him his first kiddie potty seat where he can carry it to his room or to the living room where he is busy playing. All this while, I thought potty training a kid is an easy job for all mommies, but it takes months for my son to be 100% potty trained. In reality he doesn't mind peeing in the potty but the idea of doing his No. 2 on the potty is a No No. At times, he would run around trying to hold it or hide himself behind the curtains or doors. Upon seeing this reaction, I got him a book about Sam and his new potty. He fall in love with that book, and everytime after going to the bathroom he will say, 'see mommy, I am a big boy like Sam'! Although, a couple of times he had minor accidents, over all I am really proud of him. I also had tips from other moms about using cloth diapers and also we got him this training pants where he can feel the wetness if he pees. Based on my experience as a mom, toddlers will train at their own pace, and we should not push them if they are not ready. It's really a complex skill which requires awareness, concentration and coordination. Here are some pictures of my son, when papa and nana (grandpa and grandma) gave him a surprise for a job well done.
